Cyborgs Needed For Escape From Earth
Moffett Field CA (SPX) Sep 17, 2010
Scientists have warned for decades that humans are straining the Earth. The global population is increasing, economies are expanding and consumption doesn't appear to be slowing. Tokyo (AFP) Sept 10, 2010
Japanese researchers said Friday they had developed technology to scan a book as fast as a person can flip through it. A prototype ultra-speed scanner capable of digitising a book in one minute will be built within two years, said the chief researcher of the team at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. Long struggle to free the Baltic Sea of mines
Klaipeda, Lithuania (AFP) Sept 9, 2010
The deck of a Lithuanian mine-sweeper shakes as a blast rips below the Baltic Sea, sending a geyser of water rising into the sky. Ships from seven other Baltic navies, plus their counterparts from Belgium and France, have stepped in to help Lithuania tackle an enduring legacy of World Wars I and II, when both sides littered the sea with mines. Robots programmed to deceive
Atlanta (UPI) Sep 9, 2010
