Humanoid robot makes appearance
Waltham, Mass. (UPI) Jul 15, 2013
A humanoid robot for use in disaster-relief operations has been displayed to the public by its manufacturer, Boston Dynamics, and the U.S. military. The Atlas robot is 6-foot-2, weighs 330 pounds and can make a range of natural movements. It has an on-board, real-time control computer as well as a hydraulic pump and thermal management, two arms, two legs, a torso and a head, 28 hydraulically actuated joints, and a Carnegie Robotics sensor head with LIDAR and stereo sensors, and two sets of hand ... read more
