Boeing is to provide support for 11 different military aircraft types and associated ground support equipment under a contract with the Defense Logistics Agency.
The contract, worth $223 million, is the second phase of a five-year performance-based $516 million award issued in 2014 to reduce the cost of combat logistics support while enhancing aircraft readiness. That overall award features a five-year extension option.
"Warfighters executing their missions rely on their systems being ready when they need them," said Julie Praiss, Boeing vice president, Tactical Aircraft & Weapons Support. "In addition, our customers have said they need greater value in their logistics support. Providing improved performance at lower cost is what Boeing is all about."
Among aircraft to receive Boeing support are the F/A-18 Super Hornet; AH-64 Apache; AV-8B Harrier; B-52 Stratofortress; and C-17 Globemaster III.
Boeing said contract work will be administered from its office in St. Louis, Mo. Details of the logistics support were not provided.
