Curtiss-Wright supplying Navy with submarine components

Curtiss-Wright Corporation is supplying pumps, valves, generators and propulsors for 10 future Block IV Virginia-class U.S. Navy submarines.

The equipment is being supplied for two submarines per year under a number of U.S. Navy contracts. So far, more than $330 million of funding has been allotted to these contracts, with the remaining funding to be provided incrementally.

The contracts' total value will be worth more than $480 million, Curtiss-Wright said.

"These submarines remain critically important to our national defense, and our continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives have supported the U.S. Navy in its efforts to contain costs while providing critical resources required by the Navy.

Curtiss-Wright said its Electro-Mechanical Systems Division's facilities in Pennsylvania and an Industrial Division facility in New York are performing the work under these contracts.
