Japan Set To Launch Space Freighter To ISS On Sept. 10

Japan will launch its first domestic cargo spaceship to the International Space Station ISS on September 10, a Russian space official said on Monday. The spacecraft was built by Japan's space agency JAXA, and will lift off on board the country's new H-2B rocket. It will deliver about 4.5 metric tons of scientific equipment to the orbital station.     The US shuttle Discovery made a textbook docking Sunday with the International Space Station where a total of 13 astronauts now begin nine days together improving and supplying the orbiting outpost.     The US shuttle Discovery made a picture-perfect docking with the International Space Station late Sunday, hooking up with the orbiting outpost eight minutes ahead of schedule. The US space agency NASA confirmed the docking procedure, which allows the seven-member Discovery crew to open a hatch and climb into the ISS to begin their nine days together with the six astronauts aboard there, at 7:54 pm (2354 GMT) over the Atlantic ocean.
