US intensifies strikes at Al-Qaeda targets: report
Washington (AFP) Aug 14, 2010
The US military conducted in May a secret air strike against a suspected Al-Qaeda target in Yemen and killed a deputy provincial governor in the process, The New York Times reported late Saturday. Citing unnamed US officials, the newspaper said the air strike hit a group of suspected operatives for Al-Qaeda in the remote desert of Marib Province. Two International Space Station astronauts set out Saturday on the first of two spacewalks to fix a cooling pump that dramatically failed last week. Teams of flight controllers are continuing engineering analysis and refining spacewalk procedures to replace a failed International Space Station ammonia pump module later this week. Expedition 24 astronauts Doug Wheelock and Tracy Caldwell Dyson currently are scheduled to start the repairs on the station's starboard truss Thursday.
