Discovery makes safe return to Earth
Houston, Texas (AFP) April 20, 2010
Discovery touched down Tuesday at Kennedy Space Center, making a safe return to Earth after a two-week resupply mission to the International Space Station. Mission Control gave Discovery's astronauts approval for the landing at 1308 GMT after repeated delays. With Discovery's return, just three missions remain before the shuttle fleet is retired. NASA will turn to Russia to transport Americans to the ISS until it can help to foster a healthy commercial space taxi industry. Two astronauts from the shuttle Discovery began a six-and-a-half-hour spacewalk Friday, working on an ammonia tank on the outside of the International Space Station, NASA said.
