Japan Draws Plans To Build Research Center On Moon
Tokyo, Japan (RIA Novosti) May 27, 2010
Japan is developing a program to build a scientific research base on the moon, Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Wednesday. The Japanese government plans to invest some 200 billion yen ($2.2 bln) on lunar research up to 2020, and will include robots operating on the moon's surface, according to the news agency. A make-or-break attempt to clog a ruptured pipe gushing oil into the Gulf of Mexico with a method dubbed the "top kill" has been delayed until at least Tuesday, officials said Friday. Atlantis astronaut complete final spacewalk

Two US astronauts completed their final spacewalk Friday at the International Space Station, replacing batteries before heading home. Garrett Reisman and Michael Good reentered the orbiting station's decompression chamber at 1:13 pm (1713 GMT) after the Atlantis crew's third spacewalk in five days.
